Position Summary:

The Design Coordinator works closely with Project Design Manager to ensure daily tasks are completed by the team within design scope and budget. This supervisory role maintains the design direction with the Design Team. The Design Coordinator shares tactical project responsibilities with Project Design Manager, is an excellent communicator, and has strong organizational skills. This role encourages creativity among team members while aligning with scope of project, design concept, and best practices of the company. The Design Coordinator also supports ongoing career growth and development of his or her individual team members.

Measures of Success:

  • Project Team is performing at or above expected performance levels and members of Project Team are poised for career growth.
  • Consistently meets project milestones through rigorous management of day-to-day tasks on all team projects.
  • Design concept relayed by Project Design Manager is effectively communicated through project completion.
  • Client provides positive feedback at project completion.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates communication from Design Team to Project Design Manager, Furnishings Manager, and Purchasing Team.
  • Leads weekly team meetings.
  • Effectively monitors and communicates with team project tasks, deadlines, and reports progress to Project Design Manager.
  • Provides ongoing project profitability information to Project Design Manager.
  • Communicates daily with Design Team on project performance, internal deadlines, external deadlines and any other strategy necessary in order to have project flow maintained on a daily basis.
  • Biannual Individual Development Planning with Design Team members.
  • Utilizes all project management software and ensures all team members are in compliance.
  • Review Design Team's drawing submissions to ensure compliance with production standards, code compliance and technical accuracy prior to PDM review.
  • Review all Design Team's work as needed to ensure best practices and consistency are maintained with all internal and external correspondence.
  • Daily interaction and coordination, as required, with project Consultants.
  • Coordinates Client presentations with Design Team and project

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrates ability to work independently, and as part of a team, and is also an avid learner.
  • Demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills, organizational skills and the ability to follow a task to completion.
  • Ability to be proactive and maintain a positive attitude with a resourceful approach.
  • Must be able to work with urgent deadlines, multiple priorities and delegate tasks to multiple team members.
  • Exhibits strong presentation skills.
  • Familiar with project management systems.
  • Demonstrates ability to manage and mentor junior team members.
  • Advanced computer skills to include AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and Adobe Creative Suite is required.

Experience / Education:

  • Seven plus (7+) years of experience as a Design Team member in an Interior Design/Architectural firm is preferred.
  • Experience in Senior Living, Hospitality, or Healthcare is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design/Interior Architecture from a CIDA accredited program.
  • NCIDQ qualification required or attained within first year.

Complexities and Conditions of Employment:

  • This position handles and maintains proprietary highly confidential employee, financial and company information. The utmost care must be taken to assure confidential information and documents are always secure.
  • This position requires 30% travel nationwide.
  • This position requires occasional nights, weekends, holidays, and after hours' availability.
  • This position requires a current and valid driver's license.
